Narrow Lot House

This Single Family Residence assignment was a collaborative project, to be completed in pairs of two, dividing the design, decisions and drafting equally. Given an empty lot and thorough interview with the “owners/family” to determine their extensive needs and wishes, the plans for their new house were generated. Divided into a three stage process, working collaboratively we progressed to produced a preliminary set of design plans and a massing model, followed by a set for OBC review, before finally presenting a set of plans for permitting. Continued consultation with both our instructor and the “owners” provided us with guidance and clarity in design, materials and functional aesthetics. When finished, the CarrWatt house effectively answers the brief, with technical understanding, imagination and precision, providing a home that fully responds to every challenge presented by both client and OBC regulations.
